NEET UG 2024 result: Know the top scorers at these centers
The National Examination Agency (NTA) on Saturday declared centre-wise and city-wise results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG), the exam which is under scrutiny for alleged irregularities. An analysis of the NEET result data showed that candidates who allegedly benefitted from paper leaks and other irregularities did not perform well, but many students performed well in the exam at some centres. NTA officials did not respond to questions about the higher number of students performing well at some centres.
The NEET-UG exam was held on May 5 at 4,750 centres in 571 cities, in which 32 lakh candidates appeared. They have been published in this format following the order of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court is hearing several petitions over alleged irregularities in conducting the exam, including paper leaks. The performance of candidates who appeared for the exam at centres that came under scrutiny for alleged irregularities in the NEET UG exam was comparatively very poor. These centres include Oasis School in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, Hardayal Public School in Jhajjar, Haryana, Jai Jalaram International School in Godhra, Gujarat.
According to an analysis of the data released by the NTA, some centres have a higher number of students scoring high marks. For instance, at a centre of RK University’s School of Engineering in Rajkot, Gujarat, more than 240 candidates have scored more than 600 marks, of which 12 candidates have scored more than 700 out of 720. At Mangal Chand Didwania Vidya Mandir centre in Sikar, Rajasthan, four students have scored more than 700 marks, 45 students have scored more than 650 marks and 115 candidates have scored more than 600 marks. At Aravali Public School, another centre in Sikar, 90 candidates scored more than 600 marks in the NEET-UG exam. More than 27,000 students appeared for the NEET-UG exam in Sikar, of which more than 4,200 scored more than 600 marks and more than 2,000 scored more than 450 marks.
An analysis of the NEET-UG result data showed that a total of 30,204 students scored 650 and above, which is 1.3 percent of the 23.22 lakh candidates across the country. At the same time, more than 79,500 students scored more than 600 marks. These candidates will find a place in the top 30,000 and will be able to get admission in government medical colleges. Of these, 2,037 students from Sikar alone will be able to get admission in government medical colleges. 45 candidates of Model School Centre in Rohtak, Haryana scored more than 600 marks, while more than 45 students of SDSN Mahavidyalaya Centre in Lucknow scored more than 600 marks. The marks of these students at these centres were less than 700.
No candidate who took the revised NEET-UG exam at Hardayal Public School centre in Jhajjar, Haryana scored more than 682. The centre came under scrutiny after six candidates who took the medical entrance exam here on May 5 scored 720 out of 720 marks. 29 students scored more than 650 marks at AN College centre in Patna, Bihar, while 21 students scored more than 650 and two students scored 700 at Holy Mission Secondary School. At the centres where discrepancies were found in the first NEET-UG exam, the marks of candidates have been less in the revised exam. For example, the principal of Oasis School in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, has been arrested in connection with alleged irregularities in the NEET exam. Out of 701 candidates at this centre, only five (0.71 per cent) managed to reach the top one per cent, which is like the 0.66 per cent success rate for the whole of Hazaribagh.
The Supreme Court had said in its order that the results should be declared without revealing the identity of the candidates. The court had said that it wanted to find out whether the candidates who took the exam at the alleged controversial centres got more marks than the candidates who took the exam at other places. The next hearing in this case will be on 22 July.
